  1. I am trying to convert an avi media file using TMPGenc Plus 2.5.

I extracted the audio to a wav file from the avi using Virtualdub. I then selected avi video only in TMPGenc and audio was the extracted wav file.
After only 3% of converting, TMPGenc throws up an error message:
Index of scan line is out of range (272)

Anyone know what this means and how it can be overcome?
    Thanks

I have never seen that particular error. Could you frameserve it to TMPGEnc using VDub and see if that works ?

    There's no place like 127.0.0.1

  5. Ok, thanks for the helpful link, but:
when I start and load the avi file into VD, VD complains about the cbr of the avi file. That is why I extracted the audio as a wav file etc etc. Anyway, I then run or click on 'start frameserver', then a save as box appears, and I save the file? as somefile.vdr. Then nothing happens; the saved vdr file is only 1kb with one line in it.
So I then followed next step, and loaded TMPGenc, and tried to load the *.vdr file as source, but TMPGenc complained that the file was not supported.

    Help please. What next?
    Thanks

  7. Thanks for the link, but TMPGenc now complains 'Illegal stream format' when I try to load the 1kb, single line *.vdr file.

    What next please?

    Thanks

  8. Ok, I found a bit more help on this site on how to frameserve with VD, and I saved the file as somefile.vdr.avi. Now that file will show as a clip only in TMPGenc. What else should I do here now that I know how to frameserve?

So because the video avi and wav audio conversion makes TMPGenc fall over after a short time....source position 2.52, which is where it stops playing video. What can I do now to get the avi file converted to mpg?

    Thanks

Okay, If you have TMPGEnc open select Video Browse-->All file types. Loaf for the .vdr file you just named (I always label itvdr.vdr). Once it is selected and you select OK select Start. It should start encoding the video from Virtual Dub.
    Hello.
