Is it possible to burn a DVD-R directly from VOB file extracted from a DVD? If so what software is recommended?

    Regards,

    Lol.

  2. Very simple.

You need the .IFO file with it, make a folder on the hard drive named VIDEO_TS, put the .ifo/.vob files into that folder.

Open Primo DVD, select new job, data disc.

And drag VIDEO_TS to it, and burn.

    Hey Marty,

DVD burner is a Pioneer DVR-A03. Cost about £700 inc. VAT.

    Regards,

    Lol.

  6. Not too sure I'm reading this right.

I have tried dropping vob files into ts folders like you folks mentioned and burnt this using Pioneer DVD writer.

DVD-R WOULDN'T play on set-top player. There must be solutions somewhere. Wld appreciate it if someone out there could post solutions.

Ok guys... I'm a bit concerned now. I was about to try this out but am reluctant to do so if its likely to fail because of the expensive nature of the media.

I have a film which I want to burn (its only about 3.2Gb, so will fit easily). Are Dark_Man's instructions correct?

Incidently does anyone know a good place to get cheap DVD-R media?

    Cheers,

    Lol.

    Can you believe it?

I have been looking for this PrimoDVD software... and it seems it supposed to come with the Pioneer DVR-A03 drive. Unfortunately that isn't the cas in the UK.

Does anyone know where I can get a trial copy or something?

  10. I used Quickbuilder to re-author some ripped VOBs. Re-authoring will make new .IFO files pertinent to the sructure of the ripped files. They worked fine- as miniDVD -on my pc ( I can't test on DVD - not miniDVD compatible) and PowerDVD played em.

  11. I looked last week at DVD Quickbuilder. It's dead easy to author and master DVDs - the nice thing is that you can jump any of the stages you like. So what you need to do here is create an image file and select "burn disc from image file" on your burning software. If the extension is not recognized, just rename it to one that is. It works.
To create an image file you need the Audio_TS and Video_TS folders as has already been stated, preferably on their own on a seperate partition of your hard-drive, but it doesn't have to be(when you look at the frontend of the software you'll see why). Select desktop or somewhere as the destination for your image file and check the box "create image on hard disc".
If you miss this stage out, you are effectively creating a data DVDROM with the folders as stated, but the archetecture of the disc will be wrong, so therefore it will not autoplay etc. so most if not all DVD players will see the menus and things.
Try a test on CD-R and play it back in a pc with DVD drive and software. You can get about 15minutes at 9000bps, and try out any menu authoring you may have created.

    All good fun

Thanks for the URL. I checked them out but their shipping costs seem a little high. Have you ordered from them before?

  16. why use primo the one shipped with your pioneer drive will not support what your trying to do the best software ive found and is most reliable is gearsoft dvd pro which will let you do what your trying to do all you need is vobs + ifo it arranges them into the right order for burning
if you create a data disc with primo it will only play on pc but a gearsoft generated dvd video file will play on a standalone

    Cheers.

  18. no worrys you can go to http://www.gearsoftware.com for trial i found it a lot easier to go directly to their ftp site and look for it there you will need v2.03 plus the upgrade for your pioneer which is gearpro dvd 2.03 rc02

  19. You must use DVDDecrypter.exe to decss the VIDEO_TS folder to the hardrive before recording.

I could make a tutorial if its needed?
    Quote Quote
  20. AND YOU CAN ALSO MULTI REGION AS WELL IF YOU WISH WITH DVD DECRYTER OR EVEN APPLY REGION CHANGE PATCH BUT I PRESUME YOU READ TUTORIALS FIRST AND WOULD HAVE DUN THAT AFTER ALL THATS WHAT THEIR THERE FOR
    Quote Quote
  21. Also a note:

I've tried Pioneer DVD-R media and generic DVD-R media. The Pioneer DVD-R media played in more DVD players than the generic media. So media does matter. And your dvd player has to be compatible with DVD-R in the first place.

I can tell you that both DVD-R discs, pioneer and the generic media play on Playstation 2.

  28. Great Guide Darkman! A couple of questions.. in your guide you say direct copies cannot be made from dual-layered (almost all) DVDs. Is there a way?... conversion etc.? Also, in your guide you say to open windows explorer and I will see 2 folders: Video_TS and Audio_TS. If the Audio_TS file is not there, is that because the audio is with the video? Can I rip the audio and create an Audio_TS file to be used with Primo when creating my data disk? Thanks for all your help, your info so far has been the best I've found.
Experimenting with DVD-r media is just too expensive.

The audio_ts is where music is stored on DVD Audio discs. This folder is always empty on DVD Video discs. That is, unless your DVD Audio disc is compatible with DVD Video players ... then there is content in both the audio_ts folder (an "advanced resolution" DVD-audio mix and an uncompressed PCM mix) and the video_ts folder (a Dolby Digital mix).
