  1. Many times when using either DVDDecrypter for a 1:1 copy or DVD Shrink (especially DVDShrink) the menu cursors are not visible in the menus. It happens EVERYTIME when I compress a movie, the menus and extras. The menus are there but I cannot see what I'm selecting in the menu. This of course defeats the purpose of backing up the entire DVD instead of movie only. Anyone help me out?

never had this problem with either program, what program are you using to view the DVD.

  3. Varmit, some menus use a subtitle stream for carrying all their commands.
Did you by any chance remove any while doing your backup(s)?

  4. You know.. i bet thats what it is cause I usually pull any subtitles out and i've never thought anyone needed a subtitle for a menu.. i'll go back and redo it again on one and see if it works.]

  5. Please let us know if that was indeed the cause of the problem.

I had the same problem where the menu would work in WinDVD and a Pioneer DV333 but not a Apex AD1200. The reason was there was no SubPicture stream in the Menu attributes in the VTS_01_0.IFO file. By adding a SubPicture stream, everything work properly.

Select VTSI_MAT and change 'Number of Sub-picture streams in VTSM' from 0 to 1. Save file.

    Hope this helps,

    Chas

You know, it doesn't say "subtitle" it says "sub picture"
I did some shrinks with DVDShrink and the menu worked
but all highlighting (including little arrow things) were gone.
sub picture - get it ?

I'm not sure what you meant by your last reply.

If there is no SubPictures in the VTS_01_0.IFO MENU overview, then the menu will show but you can't choose anything on some standalone players.

Iwas just pointing out that without subpictures, there
is no way to tell what menu item is selected. My menus still
work but you have to navigate blind.
