  1. I am trying to convert a Divx encoded AVI to MPEG-2 using TMPGEnc. I have a PII 300Mhz witch is slow by todays standard, but what usually takes between 15-18 hours to convert 1 hr of video took 25 hours this time. After running for more than a day, the conversion stopped at 86% completion with the message "Scan Line out of Range (386)"

What happened? This is the second time I've tried to convert this file with the same result

You scanned for errors in Vdub, right?
Did you seperate audio and video?
Anything distinctive about this file? (i.e., is it actually Xvid or AC3 sound or something?)

  3. Thanks flan,

It was one bad frame in the AVI messing up the whole process. I never knew you could do a scan with VDub.

  4. Problems converting downloaded AVI files to SVCD. Ive tried TMPGEnc but when I open my avi file it indicates can not open or unsupported. I have also tried Virtual Dub and a error comes up reading error couldnt locate decompressor for format DIV3. I am new at all of this, I have downloaded almost all of the material that this web site offers, also have tried all the guides possible, what am I doing wrong? Is there somebody out there who can help me make my first downloaded AVI movie to DVD disc?

    Thanks, Jeff

    guitarjeff,
Really you should have started your own thread, than hijack one.

Can you actally play the file? you may need to download a codec pack, such as the Nimo codec pack.

Try to tone down the fact you downloaded it. no one wants to hear about files that are from suspect origin. better to just never say what they are or where they came from, ok?
