  1. So far, I love my new LiteOn 52X CD writer (LTR-52327S with the latest QS09 firmware). With one exception. I can't seem to burn a full or ALMOST full 700 MB CD with Nero 5.5.10.50, the latest version.

I'm using Nero 5.5.10.50 with TDK 48x (CMC; but burns okay at 52x and verifies okay) 700 MB media, making an ISO data CD. I've tried a few other brands of 700 MB CDR's with the same result. Nero tells me there is not enough space. I haven't found the exact size, but it happens as I approach the full CD capacity, even with Nero's overburn enabled and set for 83 minutes.

    ISO1 (Mode2/XA) 79:14.32
    CD-ROM (ISO) 697 MB (1 660MB AVI file + 3 other files)

356,432 blocks used, CD has 359,996

If I use the Image Recorder, burn the CD to an image on disk and then use Alcohol 120%, it burns the image just fine to the same CD Nero rejected.

    Alcohol 120% says:
    Session 01:
    Track 01: Mode 2 Form 1, Length: 356432(696.2 MB), Address: 000000

Both Alcohol 120% and Nero were set for DAO.

Anyone else having a problem with this?

    Thanks,
    Mark

In nero, goto File>Preferences>Expert Features> and check the 'enable overburn' feature. Make sure the settings are at 82min 0sec 0frm.

I've used Lite-Ons for a while and they are real work horses. I've had LG, Philips, Samsung, and Sony burners die on me or give me problems, but my Lite-On drives have yet to fail and I'm burning daily- from 4x SVCD, max burn ISO, and the usual CD to CD burns.

    Hope this helps

  3. Thanks for the reply Febre. I've already tried setting the Expert overburn feature several times, and have bumped it as high as 85m 0s 0f with no success.

  4. Problem solved. Other forums and news groups have indicated Nero 5.5.10.50 as well as a version of Nero 6 are not handling overburning properly so it's a Nero bug. 697 MB to a 700 MB isn't overburning but must be affected by the bug.

Switching back to an earlier version solved the problem.
