  1. I backed up Memento using DVDShrink 2.3 in reauthor mode. I choose the main title and compressed by 5%. I burned onto a DRD+RW and it played fine. Then I burned onto a Verbatim DVD+R (made by MCC) and created a coaster. This was the first burn of that batch. Then I burned onto a Verbatim DVD+R from another batch (made by Ricoh) and created another coaster. This was the first burn of that batch. Finally I burned onto a Sony DVD+R (made by Ricoh) and got yet another coaster. I had successfully burned a disc from this batch previously.

The previous successful burn totalled 3.9 GB and this one was 4.29 GB. I think 4.29 GB is ok but I'm at a loss to come up with any other explanation. Of course, that doesn't explain why the DVD+RW burn was ok.

Is it possible that my Optorite DD0203 burner can burn DVD+RW ok but has problems with DVD±R (previously I also had problems with DVD-R)?

I used CopytoDVD. My previous successful burn with the Sony DVD+R was with ImgTool/DvdDecrypter. Can a burning app work ok with DVD+RW but not DVD+R?

  7. I tried Nero (same version) with those settings and burned at 2.4X to play it safe. It worked! I can hardly believe it.

I originally used Nero when I started off testing with DVD+RWs and it worked fine. After reading so many complaints about Nero I thought I would switch to an app that produced more consistent results for people. I've been using Nero for several years and I like it, so I'm really pleased with these results.

    Thanks for your help Roderz!
