We have been working on tweaking the firmware for the S-DR5002 so that different media can be burned at 2xs, with success!! This includes the 4xs that typically burns at only 1xs as well as the supposedly 2xs media and even some 1xs media. Check out this forum for the details: http://forum.rpc1.org/viewtopic.php?t=8727 Without going into a lot of details here (the thread is nearing 9 pages now), this process involves using a small program called kmedit (download link in the thread) to replace the media IDs that are already present in the firmware with the media IDs from the discs you are trying to burn. This process works on all firmwares except 1033 which has one more byte than the firmwares that came before it. So far the success has been with most discs, except PRINCO...somehow this media just doesn't seem to work at 2xs no matter what. Even if it does burn at 2xs, the results are not impressive...a lot of errors. Anyhow, check it out. Would like to have many more people trying this and reporting on their findings.
