  1. Hi, was trying to backup one of my dvd's using a multiple of programs, smartripper, DVDShrink, DVDDecrypter. However, the ripping process halts on the 4th VOB. The disk has scratches on it.

Has anyone got a solution for ripping dvd's with scratches???

    Any help is much appreciated..

  4. I have used auto rubbing compound to remove a scratch in the past.

  5. Still having problems with this disc. I enabled the "Ignore Read Errors" and it just keeps retrying and the number of read errors just increases. It ended up at 220 retries and 9 read errors before I killed it. It seems to crap out at 82%.

    Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh.........

Anyone else got some suggestions ??????????...

  6. Try not ripping the bad VOB and just use windows explorer to copy the file to your hard drive. Now rip all the other files except the bad file then put the bad file into the ripped files folder. I have done that a few times with a 50/50 success rate.

  7. Yeah, I'll give that a go. I didn't think you copy dvd files from explorer to to your hard disk but I'll try.

    Thanks for your help....

Try using Nero Drivespeed/CDSpeed. One of them anyway. I think it's supposed to limit the rotational speed of your drive, which gives you a better chance of reading that error. Maybe try increaseing the 'Read Error Retries' as well.
