I am slightly confused what type of system to build, whether a Storm or an Avedvio. What I want to do is capture from vhs or satellite tuner, edit (like add audio tracks in sync with picture and burn dvds basically). I know that with Storm you can do anything basically. With Acidvio can I capture from a satellite tuner or live TV broadcasts? I am not sure whether the Acidvio is considered a Capture card as it is listed under Converters!!!! Please clarify the difference as it is confusing. Then to make DVDs (Mpeg2) I guess I will need to use software to encode from DV to Mpeg (unlike Storm 2). Is the Acidvio a realtime editing card?? what software shall I use to work with (Capturing, edting, converting to Mpeg2 and burning DVDs??) . I have most of the software so i am spoilt for choice. I have Procoder, Vegas 4, Premiere 6.5, Soundforge, Nero6, Tmpgenc, Ulead DVD workshop, Virtual dub, Pinnacle Studio 8 etc etc).
One other thing is the difference between earlier Storm cards and Storm 2. Does storm 2 have realtime mpeg2 decoding during capture? What about earlier Storm cards? If not what would I need to add?
I appreciate your assistanceplease.
