  1. I just bought a pack of this media from WalMart. The speed isn't listed and DVDInfo doesn't give any info about the disk. I looked up the manufacturer # (DMR47L1) in the 'DVD Media' section but I couldn't find it there.

  2. Isn't the answer to simply burn one and see what happens ?

Are you really that fussy about how long it takes... ? There's a lot you can do in an hour if the worst happens.

I guess there's something I don't understand. If I burn it at 4X and it doesn't support that speed won't that ruin the disk? If I have to burn it at 1X, that's ok, but I don't want to create a coaster.

  5. Your burning software reads the encoded data on the disc to determine its max burning capability. If your software shows 4x as available when the blank media is in, then it detected 4x capabilities or you have hacked firmware.

  6. I tried several disks and DvdDecrypter stays in 'Device Not Ready' state on each one. So it looks like I can't even burn these for some reason.

Have you burned a dvd before ?

Your questions are very confusing . You are trying to burn a image with dvd dycrypter arent you ?

Does your burner support the type of media you are using ?

Have you tried using some other software to burn these sony discs ? Perhaps you got a bad batch .

  11. I tried several programs and none of them work. When I put in a Sony disk the drive light never goes out like it does with a disk that it recognizes.

I suppose it could be a bad batch. I don't know anyone else with a DVD burner so I guess there's no way to find out, unless I buy some more, which I'm not going to do.

  12. I just noticed someone else had poor results with Sony DVD-R in my burner (Optorite).

  13. Don't forget that a lot of discs will not state a speed on them because that depends on a number of factors outside of the manufacturers control, like:

    Writer,
    Firmware of such,
The real manufacturer of the media that they happen to be using at the time.

If they advertise a disc as being say 4x and someone can only write to it at 1x, they are asking for trouble... and a hell of a lot of returns and angry customers, who all vow never to buy their crap again.

Best not to mention it and hope for the best !
