How can i speed up my Rendering in Sony Vegus Movie 8? It takes ages to render videos, going from 0%, 1%, 2%...99%, 100% etc.

Is it related to computer memory Ram?

Does increasing computer RAM speed up Render speed?

Usually not. Unless you have so little the system is swapping virtual memory all the time. I'm not familiar with Vegas' memory usage. 512 MB may be a bit low though. Memory is pretty cheap so upgrading to 2 GB won't cost much. CPU power is usually the most critical.

Increase memory to at least 1GB but 2GB will have some benefit.

Otherwise it is your Athlon 1800 CPU. A Core 2 Quad would up performance about 6-7x.

Vegas allows multiple machines to process effects/filter renders. Also Vegas allows running multiple instances so you can continue to work during a render.

    What is "ages" ?

How long does it take to render how much footage ?

What effects have you applied ?

What else are you doing with the footage (speeding up, slowing down etc) ?

What format are you rendering to ?
    Read my blog here.

  7. You can open taskmanager while you are doing this task, and have a better idea of memory usage / swapping , and if it plays a role in the performance you are experiencing

Ages? How Long?....Be aware that rendering IS a slow process by nature. Sure your hardware can speed it up, but there are no 'shortcuts' that you can take. Certain things like effects heavy work will never be quick. Although if your talking hours for a few minutes of SD video, then yes that is slow!....Be more specific about what your doing and how long its taking.

Matey - don't know if this will work for you, but it sped up my DVD authoring with VS10 by a factor of 100...

i use DVDpatcher to "fool" VS10 into thinking the video is DVD compliant - so it skips the re-encoding part....

    cheers,
