  1. I have originally working with a P4 1GHz machine, with share video memory. Using firewire I was able to transfer the DV from my Sony Digital Camcorder to the computer using Pinnacle Sudio 7 without any trouble.

Now I switch to an AMD XP1800 machine, having an ATI AIW 64mb PCI card in it, 512 mb ddr, I am having trouble with the DV capture. When I try to transfer the DV to the computer using firewire card, the video come out with a lot of lost pixels (not lost frames), meaning the video has a lot of scramble blocks in it. I try with different software and it's the same thing. Would it be the problem of the video card or something else?

    Very strange.
I went from a Duron 800 to an XP2000 (okay, I know, same manufacturer) and also have 512mb RAM and an ATI card and had no problems.
Have you tried removing and re-installing Pinnacle (I have v8.5 by the way, so we have similar sustems/setup).

Sounds similar to the mystery problem I am having.

Capture from my SONY Digital cams, no problem, vegas or premier.

Have a brand new JVC MIni-dv. If I hit capture and let it start the camara, I get garbage, ALL THE WAY THROUGH even though what I see in front of me looks perfect.

But if I start the camera first and then hit capture, perfect.

    Whats up with that ?...LOL

Why cant things just get along ?.....

  4. I'm just wondering may be my ATI card is the problem. I'll try to install a new video card and see what happen.
