I was thinking maybe use old computer with a firewire to capture from my videocamera but does it use the computer soundcard?
Or can I use it to recording sound from a mic at the same time?

No, it doesn't. The audio is part of the data being transferred.
You can record audio at the same time, although it will be to a separate file and depending on the software used, drive being recorded to etc, could cause dropped frames and other issues with the capture.Read my blog here.

You can use Graph Edit to replace the audio stream in the DV with that from the sound card. Some other apps can do it (Window Media Encoder, VLC) but the captured format may not be DV.
