OK I just got the comcast high def dvr from motorola (two tuner model with hdmi out).
I have seen now that there is a BLACMAGIC INTENSITY hdmi capture card. Will this record from a hd-dvr and preserve the 5.1 audio?
Or is an inexpensive firewire cable better suited for transferring files off a high def cable dvr unit? Is the 5.1 audio intact from a firewire transfer? What formats are they usually transferred in?
Are all comcast hd channels encrpyted? Does the encryption block all but ota hd channels?
I'm interested in the best way to transfer the video. I know I can simply do a dub but I'd lose the 5.1 on any hd movie that way. Would a new technology like a hdmi capture card be worth the expense?
