  1. I'm creating a 3-disc SVCD from DV AVIs. I used TMPGEnc to encode the video and audio separately. (video is VBR 1635kpbps).

I muxed the first disc with bbmpeg and it worked just fine. I tested entrypoints and it works fine on my dvd player.

I did the same with the second disc. Same average bitrate. With the SVCD mux settings from the how-to on this site, there's a warning about DTS/PTS underflow (I think those were the letters).

The file I get isn't seekable in windows media player, and I can't seek to a time when playing on my standalone (Apex AD-600A). FF and Rew work, but it won't seek like the first one did.

I tried to set the mux rate higher (I think). The default is 6972. I set it as 0, and i think it did 7000. I also tried it at 7020. I don't know if ths helped. I don't think so, since this is 6972 even before you load any file. I guess it's part of the SVCD spec. None of those settings resulted in a file that i could seek.

I tried to mux it with TMPGEnc and that didn't help either.

Edited to say: The m2v file plays fine with media player, and seeks just fine too.

    Any suggestions?

    Dan

    And mucho flexible.
you want it on 2 discs? BAM
    there you go
    3? viola!
If a movie is around 95 mins, i've even squeezed it onto 1 80 min CD! The Cell looked awesome as a 1 CD SVCD.

  4. Oh, and I muxed it with VBR OFF, and set the mux rate to 10000. The file i got was 1.5GB and I could seek just fine. Any way to get bbmpeg to pad or something? Whenever I had vbr on, it didn't matter what i set the mux rate too, i always got the same size file.

Try setting the Mux Rate at 0. It will then automatically choose a mux rate for you.

  6. Yep i tried setting it to 0. Put that in my original post. No matter what I had the mux rate set to, if VBR was checked, I got the same size file every time. I don't mind some extra space but I do need it to fit on an 80 minute disc...

I'll try muxing at just above the average bitrate, with VBR muxing off. don't think it will work though.
