Maybe using the Telesync Pal option is the problem, if your encoding straight from Vobs there is no need to use any of the Interlace/Deinterlace in DVD2SVCD.

Also if your encoding an NTSC 2 PAL and you use DVD2SVCD NTSC2PAL option that could be the problem as well, i've noticed that sometimes when i do that ther is pause's just like you described so now i just encode to NTSC.

Just a thought but worth checking.

  5. don't wanna frameserve with DVD2AVI first???

    ----------

if not...lets get some questions answered first...

    1) what is source...is source DVD PAL or NTSC???

    2) what TV you gonna watch movie on, PAL or NTSC??
    Quote Quote
  6. scource = dvd pal

dvd player / tv = pal also

wouldnt using DVD2AVI kill quality for svcd?

actually, you should try using DVD2AVI... https://www.videohelp.com/sefy/?id=ClassicalGuide.html

    --------

however, make sure your output is 25 fps and you have NOT checked interlaced and 3:2 pulldown...those 2 should NOT be checked...

    -------

otherwise, in TMPGEnc under advanced settings, you can try reversing the field order....

    --------

i'm also assuming you selected the correct aspect ratio for a PAL source.

  8. yeah tried all that..im gunna give the DVD2AVI method a go and see whats better..sure this way is longer and more user intensive but i think it will prove to be the better metd...DVD2SVCD is pretty much a go button and finished

  16. well, could be your dvd player is picky about the media...

test your SVCD on another dvd player......

    ------------

btw, what's the max bitrate you're using???

    ---------

also, try burning max at 4x... and burn as "track-at-once" rather than "disc-at-once"

  17. it is definitely a strong chance it's your DVD Player. Just because a DVD Player says it plays "SVCD" doesn't mean it's good at playing them. And just because a DVD Player doesn't specify it supports SVCD, doesn't mean it doesn't.

I had a Popular Sony DVD PLAYER the NS315 or something..and it jittered every 10-30 seconds just like your player is. It also occasionally hard locked while playing SVCD's. I did hours worth of research on this site and found out that one of the most versatile DVD players on the market is the Philips 724...I returned the Sony, purchased the Philips and NEVER had another issue with an SVCD like that again.

I would check your SVCD's on a friend or family members DVD player...as well as your DVD ROM.

  20. @vamp1re,

in TMPGEnc, what did you set for your max bitrate???

  21. whatever DVD2SVCD sets it at..depending on movie length

    you sure???

i'm referring to MAX bitrate, not AVG bitrate....AVG bitrate may change, depending on the length of the movie, but MAX bitrate shouldn't...

do you not know what bitrates DVD2SVCD sets?? can you not take a look first??

    -------

the reason i'm asking this is because certain dvd players have hard time if bitrate gets too high....of course, it varies from one player to the next...but, it could be a possibility....

again, i'm referring to MAX, not AVG bitrate.

  24. hrm.....that seems to be correct...

    -------

ok..this is just for testing purposes...because i seriously dunno exactly what's the problem..since you've tested on various media and dvd players...

    -----

might wanna test on CD-RW...again..purely a test

    anywayz, set

    max bitrate = 2200 kbit/s

    max avg. bitrate = 2000 kbit/s

    min bitrate = 1000 kbit/s

again, just a test...but i've just made the bitrates less extreme...decreased the range b/w min and max bitrates...

  27. try 2 things...they're separate....

    ----------

    1) lower the bitrate even more, but still use VBR

    2) keep the same bitrate, but switch to CBR

more as a test -- set it to 1700 CBR and see if it plays smoothly ...

if it does or better than before -- its likely your player and / or media
    Quote Quote
  30. ok with the rate control mode set to
CBR and max avergae bitrate set at 2230

    walla no more pauses..

    *EDIT* spoke too soon

3cd svcd first 2 played fine last one paused.
