  1. I guess I could just go from the Laserdisc players s-video out to my Panasonic E50 recorder unless there is a way to get the data off the Laserdisc onto my computer hard drive. Is it posible to take the "optical digital" output from the player to a computer?

  2. Laser Discs video is Analog not digital in the since as a DVD, so the only way the get the laser disc to DVD is either record right to a DVD recorder or get a good capture card with a built in MPEG2 encoder chip on it.
Me I found it really easy using the FR Mode in my E-20 to record my Lasers onto a DVD, at least I can now watch Star Wars Triology and Song of the south on DVD and using the FR mode allowed me to get Return of the Jedi which is 2hrs 11min. onto on DVD at around 4900 bitrate since I told it to record the Laser disc at 2 hr 15min. on the E20.
But the FR mode can only be used if you use the timer, better flip and change those lasers fast, or I just put the finished DVDR onto my computer and used DVDshrink to edit out the 20-40 second breaks caused from changing the Lasers, then burned it back on a DVDR all nice and edited correctly.

  3. Hey thanks, I didn't realize that laserdiscs were not digital LOL. I will just record straight to my E50 as thats real easy and works great for VHS tapes so should be much improved for going Laserdisc to DVDR. BTW on the E50 I can set the FR mode without the timer and start the recording at will.
