  1. Have a few newbie questions. I have some old analog vhs stuff that I would like to convert to dvd. I would prefer something with hardware encoding. There is so much out here on the market that it is hard to make up my mind. Naturally I cant afford to spend alot of money, so lets assume the most bang for the buck. I would also like it to have digital input as well, possibly firewire as I have an HDTV set with firewire. My system is a 2200 XP with 100gb drive and 512 meg of ram running win xp pro. All input greatly appreciated.

    check the Capture Cards section at the left - it's going to depend on your budget, really.

    look at the highest price level you can afford, look for the stuff that has a good rating, and start comparing features.....
