Help compressing files.

Sorry, I'm new to the world of capturing. I have a WinCast TV Hauppauge card and am using Virtual Dub to capture TV episodes from VHS tapes. Windows 2000, Pentium 4 system.

I would like to encode these at close to 320x240 in divx format. I followed the how-to guide and everything works fine... but the files are twice as big as I want them to be (even after compressing the audio). The 22-minute episodes are coming out at around 180 megs. I have many episodes that I've gotten from other people, and they are 320x240 in divx format and are around 60 to 90 megs. What can I do to get my captured files down to that size? Is there a compression setting I'm not using (I select "divx - low motion", like the guide suggests)?

Any help would be appreciated!

Select as usual divx low motion but click on configure, lower the data rate to about 430(default 910) and you will fit 22 min/90 MB. And use also a low bitrate/date rate for the audio like 128 kbit/s.
