    okay i have 2 questions...

    1) is it possible to change the mode from professional to basic or vice versa
    (if so HOW?!!?!????!)

    2) does anyone know how the button selections worK? they made so much more sense in 1.5 and i've scoured the entire manual/help section and it is terrible and offered no help, i just want 2 general buttons with selection states that are different layers in a photoshop file, same way i did them in 1.5 and i just cant figure it out for the life of me

Don't have it open on this computer, but you can change to or from basic, expanded and expert (or is that advanced) by using the Windows menu/Configuration. This should display the list of available settings, allowing you to pick one.

As far as I can tell, there is not any "modes", all that is done is various combinations of windows are shown. You can excess any of these windows at any time, regardless of the "mode" you are in.

yep that did the trick thanks... this is my biggest problem still.. when i make buttons in the menu layout none of them actually appear so i can edit their settings.. i click and drag to make one and they show up in the connection panel but not in the actual graphical menu editor.

well i FINALLY figured it out.. man 2.0 is ass backwards.. but for all the features they added i can deal .. plus compessor is the god-send, they shoul d sell compressor standalone for all those people who cant afford dvd studio pro 2.0. And for those of you who do have 2.0 and havent played with compressor i urge you to do so, its AWESOME. Custom scaling/cropping options as well as TONS of filters, 2 pass vbr.. droool man this thing ROCKS....although i must say multi pass VBR is totally overrated, while it looks great it is no reason for people to bitch and moan forever that we dont have a program like tmpegenc, oh and for the record this 0wns tmpegenc backwards and forwards... its sooooooooo much better its not even funny

  6. Well just to rain on your parade DVD Studio Pro 2.0 seems to require a G4 to use! Anyone gotten it to run with a G3? yes it will be slow but that's better then not running at all! Tmpegenc runs on some of the slowest PC's and even still has a free version and I think is only $40.00 or so for the paid version. If only we had something that good at that price point! FFmpeg is getting better all the time and may soon be the answer . I am again Mac all the time since Jaguar arrived and only use my PC for running Tmpegenc.

that doesnt rain on my parade at all... im not surprised at all they are making alot of software not work on G3s.. come on even to get an older G4 is not that expensive anymore... get with the times, sorry to say but that doesnt bother me at all. And either way i dont care if there is a free version of tmpeg2enc, im not factoring in cost, im factoring in how much BETTER compressor is.. it justifies the cost in itself, and i was just trying to point out to all those whiners who want tmpegenc (i guess this is limited to the whiners with g4s) that compressor is 100000x better.... and you REALLY dont want tmpegenc or really any encoder to run a G3 unless you want to wait 3 days for something to convert.. is anyone REALLY that cheap? for the time and agony spent waiting for something to convert (i should know i've run alot of encoding programs on my old worthless G3 and if anyone wants to re-encode something so bad to save a buck and wait three days.. well thas pathetic im sorry) so if those with G3s had a tmpegenc equivalant on the mac then they'd start bitching.. why does it take 3 days to encode 5 hours of video.. blah blah blah, i cant believe people with G3s are still trying to encode video on them.. that just amazes me. so in short, you didnt rain on my parade at all, i would say nothing at all is better than running encoding software on a slow pos G3. so i'd have to disagree

  8. I'm not sure what sort of reply I was expecting. I do know I wasn't expecting what I got! Giving a fellow Mac user a hard time for using a G3 is just as bad as the "buy a real PC" from the PC crowd in my book Not everyone buys a new machine every year or so.

sorry i didnt mean to give you a hard time.. been flying off the handle lately so i apologize. I dont buy a new computer every few years either but G3s are like 5-6 years old.. i was just merely saying it was probably time for an upgrade... and i didnt mean to call you cheap on account of not buying a new comp.. i just meant to want to re-encode on a G3 is just terrible.. it took my old G3 1 hour to encode one minute of video to mpeg-1, so i cant imagine why anyone would want to convert on a G3. I wasnt trying to give yo ua hard to for having or using a G3.. just to convert video on it.. my apologies. I just get sick of hearing people moaning about getting tmpegenc like we dont have anything similiar and/or better (this isnt directly aimed at you, just at all the whiners).. .so again im sorry for my response i didnt mean it as it came off.
