"warez" refers to illegal or bootleg software or media files.

the reason it is so taboo is because it endangers this site - discussion of warez opens this site up to litigation by the intellectual property owners, and could find this site shut down.

    examples of warez include

    - asking for where you can download non-free software for free
    - asking how to crack timeouts on trial software, or workaround the trial period
    - asking about movies that are not available for purchase (ie "I'm trying to back up The Hulk")
    - asking about obviously illegal downloaded movies or software.

    make sense?

Warez is anything like pirated movies or bootleg screeners or cracked software or ripped cds etc etc. You get the point.

The reason they are taboo is that this site is trying to stay legit and not become a target for shutdown since the information here could be used for blatant piracy. If we keep up the rules about warez, then this site is more about movie hobbiests and enthusiasts rather than movie copiers, pirates and hackers.

By the way, religion is also taboo on this site. Your signiture is somewhat borderline. I would consider changing it before you get warned.

  5. Up top at the left side of this page (and every page of this site) is a Glossary link. In there you will find all kinds of words we use here to give quick descriptions of Video Terms.
Don't give in to DVD2ONE, that leads to the dark side.

then you should change your location.

I think holding a religious discussion is substantively different than having a religious reference in your sig file or your profile.

I'm not linking a ministry or spouting religious slogans in my signiture.

God's country is slang for a beautiful untouched place, and is not a religious reference.

  10. Typical Warez...

Hey whazzup up? I just downloaded Matrix Reloaded from KaZaa and I wanna know how to put these two files on DVD. I have absolutely no desire to learn about this hobby and contribute to the online community, I'm just a pirating freeloader lookin' for a handout. And by the way, is it possible to make multiple copies so I can distribute to all my boyz?

    Typical Response...

/You are in violation of the Forum Rules/AUP and are being issued a formal warning
    Moderator

    Typical Reaction...

A variety of reactions from the freeloader can be expected. Generally, the user will lash out and blame everybody but themselves for not reading the site rules. Others will fallback to their one-syllable vocabulary so popular in this day and age. Still others whose grasp of words are feeble at best may try the emoticon approach...

  12. Before you reply, please observe our following forum rules

    Do NOT give warez.

Do NOT link to warez .

    Do NOT ask for warez.

Do NOT provide information how to obtain warez.

    Do NOT advocate warez.

    Warez includes pirate/bootleg movies.

That is quoted from the top of the posting page you had to go through to post the question
The last line gives a clue
But it also includes as others mentioned, pirating anything, so illegal copies of paid for software you got for free is included as well as Nirvana's latest album you might have just downloaded

Religion is taboo too, I missed or forgot that one. Does that include discusing how to backup my beta 10 tape series of many holly movies. Pretty good B grade movies I got in a box of about 50 betas for $10 once
Or the little prayer I say about please bless this disk so that it may burn well and not become a coaster before burning

    Just joking, no sin intended

Please don't flame me here, nor from above!

If you downloaded a new Nirvana album then you must be a religious person!

But yes, warez includes all the things previously mentioned. As far as the sig goes, I'll leave that up to someone else to decide, its not exactly a discussion, but it is very large and as we have seen creates one.

sure it's a religious reference. it references God, which tacitly acknowledges the existence of a supreme being, and gives it credit for the unsullied nature of the land you're referring to.

you don't like my interpretation? that's your prerogative.... as it is the original poster's prerogative to put something in his sig.

I repeat, there is a substantive difference between having a reference to something in your sig, and posting about it or starting a thread about it. Look at Doggiedaddy's sig about the United Nations - that's straight up political speech, which is another no-no. But he's not starting threads to talk about it, it's just a bit of his sig file.

You don't like a link to a church? Don't click on the link. I don't care for his sig either, but I'm not going to use a bullshit argument to get him to change it.... just like I wouldn't use it against Doggiedaddy, or anyone else who has a sig I disagree with or find offensive.

I do find it funny that your statement has provoked more religious argument on this site than that guy's sig did....

  16. My refference to religion was meant as a joke, not discusion.

BUT, everyone does have some type of religious beleave!
Even those who do not beleave in any supreme being still have a religious ideal even if they don't want to admit it.

And that religious beleave is that nothing exists to beleave in, but it still concerns religion and is a beleave is it not?

Nuff said, cause we don't wanna get into that and break any rules.
    Or start any holy wars

Man I need a spell checker or learn to type and hit the correct keys at least half the time! My eyes are going so bad from all the proof reading I can't see the mistkes!

DID ANY ONE ACTUALLY CLICK ON HIS LINK?

I think not, because if you do, you will see its really two links, one to his personal webite, not religiously overzealous at all -with links to his Logo Design & Art-the other's not a ministry but a MUSIC site with ok JESUS ROCK samples not bad at all..Its just his personal webite and link to a friensd...

I agree with this principle. I also happen to agree with DoggieDaddy on this issue, but to discuss it in depth would probably be a violation of Forum Rules: No Politics.

I would post to disagree with you housepig, but the point is probably moot and would only encourage yellow cards from the mods.

Why is it that if people converse long enough, it always comes back to religion and politics sometime, even in a forum. Human nature I guess.

  20. Wearz is some thing that you should pay for but gotten for free. Like software Movies song's video game's. If some charging money and you get it for free that's steelling.

  21. I think the sig is okay from a "forum rules" point of view... and I'm an athiest with a mostly negative impression of Christianity BTW.

@ Videocritees: perhaps you should change your sig. picture to something less ugly however...

totally coincidence. I am in the states, my wife just wanted to see the part about crushing your enemies and hearing the lamentations of their women, so we borrowed the dvd from a friend.

The co-incidence continues, i turned on the TV to watch "Cube" on DVD, and before i flicked over there was some program on about arnie, and heard the line about crushing enemies and lamenting women. then i changed to the DVD. i wonder, did everyone on the board watch at least little bit of that film last night??
