Hi all,
I have just bought an nec 1300, and have burnt 20-30 dvd films at 4X on ritek unbranded dvd-rs in Nero 6 (although they are unbranded, they weren't cheap!). All these films played fine all the way through on my PS2. The problem I'm having is with data DVDs, i.e. backed up mp3s etc. when I write these dvds (3 out of 3) they go wrong, when I try and copy the files back onto the hard drive some files copy but normally right at the beginning of the copying process the 'cyclic redundancy check' error message comes up and i breathe a sigh of disappointment, as I've now deleted the files I'd written to the DVD!
I have a 1.4ghz athlon t'bird, 512MB ddr 2100, and a 7200rpm ata133 maxtor hard drive.
these are the possible options for the bad burning:
1. I haven't defragmented recently
2. My computer may not be able to hack writing data at 4x (if so why do the 4x video dvds work well?)
3. The media is bad (i hope not considering 200 cost me £250, about $400!
please help if you have had any similar problems, or if you know anything about these CRC errors, thanks
