  1. Hi again,
Here are some more questions. when i capture my .avi file using vs-7 i am capturing in 720x480. From what i have read here this is what i should do so as to not make my dvd encoder have to resize the file when i render it to dvd. There is an option in vs-7 that will allow me to use software compression when capturing the .avi file and the software compression options are

    1) indeo video 5.10 compression filter
    2) mjpeg compressor
    3) nero video encoder
    4) intel 4:2:0 video 2.50
    5) intel indeo(r) video r3.2
    6) intel indeo video 4.5
    7) intel indio video 5.10
    8) intel iyuv codec
    9) microsoft h.261 video codec
    10) microsoft h.263 video codec
    11) microsoft mpeg-4 video codec v2
    12) microsoft mpeg-4 video codec v1
    13) microsoft rle
    14) microsoft video 1

Also in the advanced options that you choose your compression codec there ia a qaulity setting. Seems as though 50% is the default. Should i bump this to 100% as i have been? And of course which of the above compression codecs should i use? And once again I appreciate all of your help and patience as i struggle to learn all of this.

If you are not encoding to the final target format (MPEG2)
on the fly you need to use the least compression your
machine can handle. Lots of people use the PicVideo MJPEG.
    set as high as possible.

  3. My capture drive is a 60gb drive so i have plenty of room, so i should use no compression? And am I doing the right thing by capturing in 720x480 or should I capture my .avi in 352x480? And what is the picvideo mjpeg, I am assuming it was #2 of the optiions in my original post. Sorry, but being new to this I pretty much need everything spelled out for me.
