  1. i had a divx file and used tmpeg to convert it to dvd, when i opened the output file(mpeg), windows media player couldn't play it, it looked for a codec and couldn't find one. what does this mean?

    WMP doesn't do DVD's. You need a software DVD player, or the free MPEG2 codec in the download section(to make WMP play it, but you will have interlace issues).

    Try file mode instead of disk mode? I don't use WMP (well, 6.4 classic plays everything). I use PowerVCR (Power DVD with capturing capability) and never had an issue.
