  1. I just borrowed a movie from my brother (Narc) and he left before I got the chance to test/burn the disk. Turns out I miscalculated with my IC7 settings and it is a little too big. (4.5gb) When I try to re-convert it (is that a word?) it says it is missing a .vob file. Im not sure if I need to re-author the files or not- a little confused here.

Here is a list of the files in my VIDEO_TS folder:

    VIDEO_TS.BUP
    VTS_O1_0.BUP
    VTS_O2_0.BUP
    VTS_O3_0.BUP
    VTS_O4_0.BUP
    VTS_O5_0.BUP
    VTS_O6_0.BUP
    VTS_O1_0.BUP
    VIDEO_TS.IFO
    VTS_O1_0.IFO
    VTS_O2_0.IFO
    VTS_O3_0.IFO
    VTS_O4_0.IFO
    VTS_O5_0.IFO
    VTS_O6_0.IFO
    VIDEO_TS.VOB
    VTS_01_0.VOB
    VTS_02_0.VOB
    VTS_04_0.VOB
    VTS_04_1.VOB
    VTS_04_2.VOB
    VTS_04_3.VOB
    VTS_04_4.VOB
    VTS_04_5.VOB

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

  2. So let's get this straight - you have borrowed a movie and you're trying to make a copy of it.

That's piracy, isn't it ? Not allowed here, I'm afraid. Wrong forums !

  3. It's from my brother- doesn't that count as ownership? He just recently moved away (1 1/2 hours), and I had been meaning to back it up for a while- and asked him to bring it back. I wasn't aware that was illegal, but I'm sorry if this is considered illegal. It is "our" -the whole families movie, he just took it along- on of his favorites now. Is that still illegal?

Dude, you didn't have to be honest. Everyone else here would have just lied and said it was a "family video". That's all you have to do. Here is the deal about this movie now that we know it is a copyrighted DVD. If the movie does infact belong to the whole family. Once you make your backup copy you must also keep the original. You are not entitled to make a copy and then return your brother's "favorite movie" to him. That would be illegal.
