So I got SVCD2DVD, loaded my SVCD movies into it and have it convert to DVD files, use Nero to burn the files, but it doesn't play in my home DVD player saying 'Playback Prohibited in Area Limitations'. I have a sony DVP-NC655P home DVD player which says it can play DVD-SVCD. I have no problem playing normal VCD or SVCD's but I want to be able to burn them to one DVD disc. I know I am doing something wrong, but not 100% sure what. One more thing, the DVD-SVCD plays fine in my computer with PowerDVD, so I know it burns and works, just a conversion problem of some sorts to be played with the home unit. Any assistance?

Hey,
You could try a few things cause making dvds isn't easy job.
1. if you did it do it already burn the svcd like svcd and see if it works then cause i read that it is real picky about video and audio bitrate with VCD and SVCD.
2. burn your dvd with another program and see what happens nero has it flaws to.
3. you could try to apply the pan & scan info
4. you could download the demo of dvd-lab and make a dvd with that and see what your player does then.
5. try all you can think of cause like i said creating svcd-dvd or vcd-dvd isn't easy even when chrissy made this nice program.Greatings,

There are many posts on PAL 2 NTSC conversion in this forum any others here at dvdhelp.com. The "HowTO Convert" section on the left menu also has many guides.
The SVCD v's DVD issue is all down to your player. Have you tried trawling your settings?SVCD2DVD v2.5, AVI/MPEG/HDTV/AviSynth/h264->DVD, PAL->NTSC conversion.

Well what I ended up doing and it worked, was to use SVCD2DVD and have it create the DVD files like I did before, then I just dumped those files into DVD Movie Factory 2. I did it this way cause it seems a little faster than dumping SVCD's into Movie Factory. I havn't watched the movie all the way through on the disc to see if any issues arise (synch, freezing, etc), but it works.
Thanks for all the help.
