    hi
i have a modest system (2.2ghz amd xp, 1 gig of corsair memory, 9700 pro, epox 8rda+ board, (using on board sound) but when im capturing something from the tv, my card is dropping frames like they are going out of fashion.
I have a Hauppauge Win/TV 878/9 model (if that makes any sense!!) and i have had this for ages, but only started using it today again.
trying to capture off of the tv (music videos for example) regardless of what res, sound quality i try and use, when i play it back, i get sound but no video. i think on average im loosing 66% of the video, which isnt good at all.. this is why i feel im getting no image.
can anyone recommend me a better capture/tv card for my pc setup, as im really not sure what to get that wont drop frames and wont cost me £1000 to buy.
if i said would a £100 be enough to spend on a card, could someone, (anyone???) give me an insight to what i might be able to get please? i might be swapping boards at some point (to a 8rda3+ so not much change at all, but another Xp1700, certain type of one anyways will be used.. hopefully it will be faster than the one i have now..) but thats about it..
do i need anything more for my pc or am i ok spec wise?
i thank anyone that replys, best wishes to all

im using the one that came with the card itself.. is there an update that might help me out or do i really need a new card?
i have heard that firewire is the best way to capture...
i think the drive is a year 2000... maybe something to do with the millieum bug? on the cd its got the version 4.6.. is that good or bad?
also when i was having problems with getting the sound, i was getting a 'perfect' capture without it, no dropped frames at all. would that really make such a difference? im using windows xp pro with service pack 1a
