  1. My Pioneer ao5 has been fine since i bought it however i just got some 4x media for the first time. Its lead data which I heard is OK but thats another story. When I burn a DVD with Nero (the latest version of 5)it takes about 45 minutes not including verify. Ive also tried burrning an ISO file with DVDdecryper and got similar results. I just flashed the Pioneer a05 with the latest firmware on their website with no performance improvements. Ive got a 2.6ghz P4 with 640mg of ram. What the f*&$ is wrong?

If you go back to using 2X media does your normal speed comeback? If it does, I would say it is bad media.

  3. I think, could be mistaken (do a search to be sure), that I read here that to resolve slow burning issue, you should go into device manager, remove the IDE Controllers, and then reboot. They will automatically be detected once you reboot.

    Hope that helps.
