How can i make chapters from a dvd without chapters??

I have this dvd wich is home made, and it isn't divided in chapters. suppose i wanted to split the movie in chapters and make a new dvd out of it, how would i do then?

What software do you have available.
Do you still have the movie on your computer or is it only on the DVD now?

DVD Studio Pro can add chapters and I'm pretty sure iMovie 3 can put chapters in that iDVD 3 will recognize.

Give us a little more information and we should be able to help you out.

Well i don't actually have the movie yet, i'm going to record a movie from the tv, and a friend will put it on a dvd for me. But he said it will be without chapters, menues and other fancy stuff. So i thought when i get the dvd from him, i might be able to add some chapters myself.

I think i will get the dvd from him this weekend. I was just throwing out this question in advance, so that i will know what to do when i get the dvd.

I would probably try to use OSEx to rip a single muxed mpeg file from the dvd, then I'd use Sizzle to author, providing the custom chapter times in the Other tab. These are the times I use get a chapter every 10 minutes for an hour and a half.

I did this, but the dvd had only 2 chapters.

Any suggestions??

Use Sizzle to author but you can't author with a mpeg you have to split the video and the audio. You can join those two chapters using MMT and then chapter in sizzle but remember they have to be demuxed.

I gave sizzle one "m2v file" and one "mp2 file" but still this only gives me two chapters.

I did also try to give sizzle a vob, but the result was the same.

Hi and thanx for your help. This was the best try so far, it gave me at least four chapters. very strange. There should be 20 chapters, but there were only four.

wonder what the problem could be...?
