I got a few VCDs in PAL format. These are some tape recordings captured to disk using some asian version of Pinnacle capture card and pinnacle software.

I want to edit these files. I copied the DAT files to harddisk. used VCDEasy tools section to convert the files to MPEG-1. So far no problems.

Now I use TMPGEnc - mpeg tools to edit/cut/merge, I loose Audio sync!

The Audio starts in sync, then over the time (like from 10 min+) the audio is faster and than the vedio. By 55min, the audio is about 1 min 40 sec off!
(here I tried to cut the 74 min file into 60 mins (first 60mins))

does any one know what could be the reasons?
The original has no problems even after converting to MPEG1 I check it is fine.

I think something in TMPGEnc is doing it.
I tried to de mux the audio video, them edit and merge, still the same thing.

Is their any other tool which can just split MPEG1 files? I tried GOOGLE and bunch of tools pop up, but before investing in a new tool, I want to check out what others think.

    thx..
    Nuf

(BTW: The capture is not all good! It was all blocky, at times I guess the software wanted to sync audio, and that caused a break!)

  2. make sure that in the mpeg tools sections, under TYPE..you choose the right one..i believe there're like 4 types of MPEG-1 you can choose....

however, i haven't really used the tools for MPEG-1...only MPEG-2, so i don't exactly know which type applies to you
