  1. Here is my trouble:
I'm trying to author & burn my DivX version of "First Blood" to DVD-R. I'm using TMPGEnc Plus to encode from DivX to MPEG2 and DVD-Lab to author. Everything plays fine on my PC but acts funny on my standalone DVD player (a Minitek DVD-1600)

If I encode to separate video & audio streams, the playback is at about 20x speed and the audio only comes out of the left side on my standalone. If I encode the DivX as one multiplexed MPEG2, the playback speed & audio is fine for about 15 min, then the audio gets VERY choppy, as though my speakers are behind a big fan.

I've tried reencoding the audio using Virtualdub, but that has had not effect.

Any ideas on what causes this?

  2. Try using Mainconcept to encode within DVD specs i.e 352 x 480 resolution or higher if its going on one DVD. Ensure sound is ticked at 48000 to be compliant and choose mpeg2 (program & Video).

Than use TMPGDVDAuthoer or DVD Lab to compile mpeg into vob files, then use Nero drag TS Video and Audie Ts to compilation then Burn. Use DVD UDF 1.02 for your compilation. This allows compatibility with most standalones and I have just burnt a 4 speed Bulkpaq tango disc with this perfect!

The reason I use Mainconcept is for DVD its encode engine is very very fast. I have a 2.4 Athlon and I normally get encodes at slightly less than the time of the filme. The quality is superb and I have treid TMPG, CCE (probs with the audio) and others including ULEAD.

This method seems to be the quickest and best after weeks and weeks of trialing proggies!

    Good Luck

    Tom

  3. Isn't Mainconcept a DV encoder only? Does it work on DivX and MPEG1/2?
