  1. Allright, here we go again! Fo some reason, yesterday both my CD-r and DVD-r drives disappeared from My Computer. I opened Device Manager and they both show the problem icon with the message "Windows cannot initialize the device driver for this hardware" I have tried System roll back, uninstalled all new items and still no luck! Can anybody tell me what is going on here? My next option is system restore and then formatting the hard drive. I also did a complete virus scan with nothing found (norton's anti-virus 2003) Any help would be greately appreciated!

And you tried to reinstall the drives' drivers?

  3. this may be worth a try i guess:

try removing both of the drives and booting into windows (this way, windows is certain that u dont have any drives)

then reconnect them and boot up again, hopefully windows will then detect them and it should automatically install the drivers for them!

if that doesn;t work it may be worth trying to connect the drives up to a different compuiter, make sure they are still working. if you had a power surge/short circuit through the power connector which went to both of your drives then this could destroy them (although it is unlikely this would have happened without the rest of your hardware being damaged also!)

i guess if they are working in other pcs then you could try a system restore or reinstall windows but this does seem a little too drastic!

    2) If your question has anything to do with copying PS2/PC/XBox games, find a more appropriate website
