im using the ati rage fury pro and i wanted to get a standalone catpure card for video in, i currently hook my vcr to my comp and the pictures are very grainy during recording and playback in all modes (mp1 and mp2) avi is toooo big for me to convert or even attemp. would getting a new better card fix this or is it something else? if not im looking to invest $75 into a new card maybe a tv-tuner card and hook my vcd through the coazial (would that work?) would taht fix me problem? recommendations please?

I also have the same card and mostly do DVD rips.
When I need to capture I usually use Media wave 4 and capture mpeg 1 at the maximum bitrate the program will allow. This gives you a smaller filesize. As for the the
grainy picture, if the mpeg file were played as a VCD/SVCD on TV the result would be cleaner. I have done ALL the Star Wars movies and my friends think I watch a tape
I also use Sonic Foundry Video Factory as it is a very easy visual editor (uses ligos mpeg)
