    Hi

I have an SVCD movie I want to convert to VCD.
The problem is Cd2 will not even open in Ulead Video Studio or Main Concept Encoder. I get a non responding program.
In TMPGEnc it opens, gets so far in the encoding process then crashes often locking the PC in the process.
Any ideas for any other programs I can try??
The SVCD is non-standard compliance so will not play on my DVD player.

    Any ideas??

    Cheers

Try ripping the MPEG off the CD with VCDGear. Browse directly to the CD with VCDGear, and set the MPEG to MPEG option (selecting 'fix' isn't a bad idea either). Once you get the MPEG off, you should probably serve it to your encoder using DVD2AVI.

Not really. You can still run it through VCD gear using the 'fix' option. I've had it fix bad headers, and repair mpeg's to the point where a missing stream would show up. Not sure what it does, but it does work from time to time. Definately try the DVD2AVI, as it seems to work very well for getting video back out of an mpeg. Not as good on the audio, but with a corrupted stream, I think frameserving is probably your best option.
