Just used vobedit to stick a bunch of vob files together (had vob files only, no ifo/bup) and I noticed something that I was hoping someone could explain for me:

Initally, I was working with vob files whose name ended with single, instead of the usual three, digits. For example, I had VTS_01_1 instead of the usual VTS_01_001 and so on. When I first tried to join the clips and save work to a new directory, vobedit wouldn't work for me (did nothing). I tried several times and finally figured out that if I changed the file names so that the standard numbering (VTS_01_002 instead of VTS_01_2) is used, the software works just fine.

Why is this? Obviously structure of file names make a difference, but I'm a little confused because they are still just a bunch of vob files, they are named correctly (at least according to DVD Decrypter, which put them there), and the information is obviously all there.
