I have several VOB files (separate movie clips), and want author a DVD with chapter Menu (using TMPGEnc DVD Author 2).
Before authoring I wanted demux VOB files. I read, it's possible demux with VobEdit. I tried, but this does not work, I probably doing something wrong.
Should I first rename all VOB files to VTS_01_001.VOB, VTS_01_002.VOB, etc?
I just open filename.vob in VobEdit, then click 'Demux' button, in "Dialog" prompt choosed "Demux multiple streams at once" > check 'Demux all Video streams', 'Demux all Audio streams', OK, then specified folder to save, in 'Save As' dialog the file name shown as "VTS_01_001.n", in 'Save as type:' Audio Files (*.ac3), then click Save, but it does not create anything. How to demux VOBs correctly?

Usually you would open the IFO file, which would tell whatever program you are using what the VOB structure was.
    Read my blog here.

I have no any IFO files, I only have various VOB files, from different sources, some files have different audio format, etc.

In this case each should be demuxed to separate folders.

Also try rejig in "file mode" , add vob , set output folder , then demux.

I downloaded DGIndex program, is this the better tool? How to demux vobs using this program? And should I rename all VOB files before processing?

    It's what I would use.

It's not necessary to rename them. Load them all at once using Shift/Down Arrow or one after the other using the Add button. Then File->Save Project and Demux Video should give you an M2V of the video and whatever audio is in the VOBs. If you've not used it before you may have to set up the audio by going Audio->Output Method->Demux All Tracks.

OK, there is no need to install Avisynth filter and VirtualDub for demuxing, only DGIndex? There is also option in Video > 'YUV > RGB': PC Scale, should I leave it at default?(PC Scale).
Should I save each demuxed VOB in its own separate folder? And when ready, just to remove from folder extra files created by DGIndex(.d2v & .txt)?

No, of course not. It also produces a D2V project file usually used in an AviSynth script, but you won't need it if only demuxing.

    Yes, leave it at default.

If you opened all the VOBs at once, it'll give you back one M2V from all the VOBs joined together. You'll also get one joined audio track for each audio track in the DVD. Everything gets joined. I thought that's what you wanted.
And when ready, just to remove from folder extra files created by DGIndex(.d2v & .txt)?
Yes, delete the D2V and the LOG if you have no use for them.

Now going back and reading what you have, if they're all from different sources, that's probably why VobEdit didn't work for you to demux into one joined video and audio file. I don't demux VOBs from different sources with different types of audio in them, so you may run into problems doing this is well when using DGIndex. Also, even if you are successful in demuxing everything into one M2V and one AC3 file, the chances are very good that the audio won't be in synch with the video after reauthoring them. You may be better off after all demuxing each VOB to its own folder.

Hmm, no, I didn't tried to join all these VOBs together. I meant demux them one by one, as separate files, then import them into TMPGEnc DVD Author, to make separate video clips on DVD. It's not a parts of one movie, its separate music video clips. Does the demuxing these vobs as joined M2V and AC3 files has any advantages?

After demuxing a few VOBs I find also I got audio output as WAV format, not AC3.

I said to "Demux All Tracks", not to "Decode AC3 Track To WAV". I'm using DGIndex version 1.5.5. There's always the chance, I suppose, that these music videos come with PCM WAV audio to begin with. After opening the VOB, go File->Preview and in the Audio section near the bottom of the new Information screen it'll tell you the type of audio in the VOB.

If they have different properties, then it may not even be possible to join them. The advantage, were it possible, would be a lot less work preparing them for authoring.

My settings was correct, "Demux All Tracks". The audio format is 'a0: PCM 48K 16bit 2ch'. Another VOB file, audio format is 'c0: MPA L2 2ch 48 192', and demuxed audio stream is .mp2 file.

  12. So, you understand now that you got what's in the VOBs, without any further decoding or converting, right? I don't work with music videos myself, and didn't realize how common PCM WAV audio was in those DVDs. And you even get MPA audio sometimes?

Yes, that's clear now. Many of these VOBs have different audio formats, so besides .AC3 files I get sometimes .wav and .mp2.
