  1. I have my camcorder plugged in to my firewire port. I've used Microsoft Movie Maker and Scenalyzer but neither was able to capture anything. Am I doing something wrong? Isn't it just supposed to work automatically? My 1394 controller is detected by my device manager.

  2. Your video device has to be recognized by the Operating system as well as being connected to the Firewire card. You may need to reboot with the device connected, it is turned on and playing? You may need to visit your camcorder site to see what limitations there are???

  3. My sony isn't detected. The thing is connected so I don't know what else to do. I'm not using a card but the onboard firewire that came with my asus motherboard.

I think I recall seeing that some cameras need to have a menu item set, so that the firewire is enabled. Go through the menu in your camera and see if there is anything that needs to be changed.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

  6. No that's not it either. Am I the only one who has had trouble with their firewire?

  7. On my Sony camcorder (TRV-25), I have to enable DV out from the camcorder's menu.

    Zanos,

Turn on your camera to VCR (or VTR) mode, not camera mode.
