  1. ok ive tried everything, avi_io, powervcr II, and virualdub, ... got it to video capture but no sound.

I believe ive got all the connectors hooked up.
ive also updated my drivers for my capture card - Hauppage WinTv-D 697, and my sound card creative x-gamer. when i start to preview the video, i do hear sound from my pc speakers -via from tv. but for some odd reason i cant get sound recorded w/video.

ive followed the directions for the virualdub on
    http://www.labdv.com/en/manuals/capture_virtualdub.htm

and in the end when im about to capture, .. i click on capture and i see "capture video" and "capture video_compatiblity"... i dont see one for capture video and audio. ive also tested video capture_internal ... and it showed the status of audio running (audio size, relative rate, compression)and also when i preview it with histogram, it shows that the caputure card is recieving sound from tv.

but when i video capture,.. and when i click on the capture.avi after ive finished... there is video but no sound

    plz help

  2. The first time I captured I had no sound and it turned out to be that the Line Input source in the RECORD portion of the sound mixer was muted.

If you double click on your volume control on the task bar it should bring up the sound mixer. Make sure you select the RECORD settings, not the PLAY settings, and adjust the level accordingly.

  3. I had the same problem when I used VirtualDub. What I had to do was to make sure the line input source is selected in the video player for my capture card. I am using ATI AIW Pro. So I had to open up the ATI Video Player first, and select the line input as the source. Then open Virtual Dub.
