  1. Hi,

Neither MMB nor Firestarter will let me burn bin/cue files with my Superdrive (103 model). I understand the underlying cdrecord software doesn't support these drives at present. But I also THINK I remember that I once was able to do it successfully, possibly using an older version of MMB?

So has anyone else with a Superdrive found a way to correctly burn bin/cue files?

    Thanks,

    -Jeremy

I do it but I use Toast Titanium. I wasn't able to get it done with freeware either. Sorry my answer costs $100 but that's what works for me.

  3. I have Toast Titanium but I sure don't see any option to burn bin/cue files there. What did I miss?

Since you have bin/cue, I assume you are doing VCD. Under Other choose Video CD and drag the .bin into the window. You can throw out the .cue, it isn't needed.

    A word of caution!!!!!!!!!
Toast does not handle the VCD/SVCD structure very well unless you actually made a toast vcd compliant .mpg (since you have.bin/.cue i dont think you did this.)

Try the toast method (set toast to disk image, and drag the .bin into the window)

You will most likely want to use a cd-rw since this method doesnt work for all players.

but, its worth a try, since it does for some (Apex 1100) for example

But its worth finding out why MMB or Firestarter wont see your drive.

    Where you have it installed?
    Internally? Externally?
Which setting (slave, master) if internal?
Did you try ALL the drive options in MMB. Sometimes even though you have a superdrive, it will work if you say you have combo drive or just plain cd-rw drive.

Galactica described the method well when you use toast (the disk image method) if that didnt work on the bin then try this

You can use gumby to conver it to an iso if you like
http://gumby.misplacedmac.com/ (then use the disk image method galactica described)

It does lots of other stuff too

If that doesnt work try fireburner freeware stuff or is that and firestarter the same thing?

The program enables you to select the .bin and cue files and then burn them

  8. Hi,

have you thought about using FirestarterX ?
This one handles bin/cue/toc files very well and has the advantage on MMB to recognize your burner automatically (see in the prefs).

On the other hand, it won't allow you to make VCD out of anmpg file, but anyway, it seems you already have got your bin/cue file.

I believe this is what he said in the beginning:

Neither MMB nor Firestarter will let me burn bin/cue files with my Superdrive (103 model)

Im waiting to see if he tried all the settings in MMB and to see if he can provide more info on why its not seeing it with Firestarter! like where is the drive? is it slave or master, internal or external....

FirestarterX should work! (usually those drives which dont work with MMB work with Firestarter)

But yes, your information is correct!

No it wonīt work. At least it does not with my pioneer dvr 104. Although I am able to burn data cds I get the "cannot set up disc at once writing" message too. I guess it is because image burning relies on cdrdao which does not fully support superdrives according to the cdrdao page.

I would be glad for being able to burn svcds directly (vcds work with toast), too.

Best thing to do if you donīt know exactly about the svcd youīre trying to burn is to use vcdtoolsx which letīs you create the svcd with all extras such as menus and stuff. It contains a programm to rip the bin and one to create an image burnable by toast. If itīs a plain svcd image without extras you can create the image with ffmpeg also which is a little bit faster.
