Ace Mega Codecs pack

I've installed the codecs pack mentioned above and have encountered some problems.. I even had problems running a game which used Windows mediaplayer to show the intros etc..

Has anyone any experience with this codec-pack?? I got the pack from a friend, but I have little experience in using them, and therefore cannot tell which ones are good and not..

If I were to uninstall it, can anyone pls tell me where I can find some trustworthy codecs which covers "the lot", and hopefully won't cause my system any more trouble?

never download or install any codec pack. they're all crap. if you need one codec, look for a standalone installer. ask anyone on this board about the nimo codec pack.

have to agree with mystic -

I've never seen a single positive post about any codec pack, and the guy I go to for computer guru advice has told me (in excruciating detail) how badly they can mess up your system.

If you need a codec, go and get the individual codec. Everything else in that pack is just ballast that won't help your machine.

The only codecs I install are.........

1) The xvid codec
2) DivX codec (I use the pro version)
3) ac3 codec
4) Mpeg2 codec (installed through PowerDVD)

I haven't found any movies I can't play.

I don't mean to offend but two users have just offered you their opinion...
..."don't download any codec pack".
Please, re-read the thread and either take the advice for what's it's worth or take your own risks.
