Hi everybody,
I'm trying to burn a AVI file thats over 700MB on to my CDR. Please note that my drive can only support 650MB medias and that it cannot overburn.
Anyway, I need to split the file into 2 separate files. How do I do it with virtualdub? Or is there an alternative thats much simpler?
Thanks!

open your video file in Virtualdub. Under Video, select Direct Stream Copy.
Using the slider, find where you want to cut the movie. Use the Mark In button and mark the spot you want to cut. Make sure you are cutting on a keyframe. Then go to the end of the movie and set the end of the section to delete with the Mark Out button.
Hit Delete.
Now Save As Avi, renaming the file.
Once it finishes processing, load the original video file again, find the point where you cut, set the Mark Out point there. Go back to the beginning of the video and set the Mark In point. Delete. Save As Avi.
You now have two seperate avis.
If you are wondering-
- where is the Mark In button?
- where is the Mark Out button?
- what is a keyframe?
- how do I get to a keyframe?
I would suggest you click on the menu item called "Help" in Virtualdub, and READ THE MANUAL. It's all in there. Some of it even has pictures.
I would further suggest you check the How To: Edit section at the top left of your screen, and read the guides there. If, once you've read the Help file and the Guides, you still have a question, read them again carefully before you post it in the forums.- housepig
