For VCD Authoring that is.
Here's the low down..
I used to use ULMF to author 2 episode's of Star Trek Enterprise which where burnt to 90 mintue CDR, i created my main menu and my scene menu's, also included music to each menu and burnt to CDR using ULMF.
When ULMF2 was released, i decided to upgrade to it, simply because it had all the feature's on ULMF and a bit more including True Chapter Creation.
But, now i find that if i do the excact same procedure in ULMF2 that i used to do in ULMF, it adds on at least 100mb to the final image, making it to big to burn to a 90 mintue CDR. my burner is capable of burning onto 99mintue cdr's as well but i don't see the need to buy them.
There where no problems whatsoever burning to CDR in ULMF.

Try one of the higher capacity CD-R discs.
That should work.

I Know that 99 mintue CDr's will work, but why should i have to buy some of them, when ULMFworks with 90 mintue CDR's.

You might try registering your software and then log in to the Ulead Web site and fill out the official tech support form located here:

Hey Man,
I had a similar problem....what I found is that my file sizes changed depending if I chose a PAL format or NTSC. Sometimes, if I had an NTSC setting, a 500mb file would turn into 900MB for a regular 74 min disc. Changing it to PAL shrunk it to what I was looking for, and it doesn't seem to alter the image. The file is already encoded...so it shouldn't matter.
Hope this helps.

I tried what you suggested, it actally pushed the final image out to 1.8gb.
It looks as if i will have to buy some 99mintue CDR's.

Have you unchecked the box that say "Copy the source to the disk". This copyies the setup source to the disk wasting space (may be DVD only ) but worth a look. I gues sthat feature is so you don't have to recreate the whole thing if you want to copy it. Like redesigning the menu, etc.

Copy source to disc is not selectable in VCD mode

Maybe not the help you were looking for, but...
Sometimes, depending on the film/show - the amount of action/sfx and so on packs a lot of information vs. let' s say a dialogue driven story.
Try just manually reducing the bit-rate in TMPEGEnc when you encode, that will shorten the file size if you reduce the bit-rate. 1 min SVCD = 1 min of CD time - so keep that in mind. If that wasn't any help, sorry, just thinking of ways to reduce the file size for you.l.
