im useing tmpegenc v2.56 to convert a avi to pal dvd i tryed to use the wizerd but when it starts to encode the little black screen in the middle goes blank and the out put file stys at zero, so i decide not to use the wizerd and just load the dvd template my self it all when well but when it was finished to picture was crap and the mpeg file was only 1.3gig ( the avi file is a screener) so wot i want to no is wot settings to cahnge when i load the dvd template then unlock it wot do i change so i get a better picture

describe what you are doing that the TMPGenc wizard doesnt work but loading the templates do....I am confused as to how this can be so. Did you follow the guides on this site step by step ?

The reason for "the little black screen in the middle goes blank " might be that the wiz is using 2-pass VBR. First 50% is dedicated to finding out how to distribute the bits to the frames - no output neither filewise nor picturewise. The mpeg is created during the second pass, and it's not until then that you'll see anything in the preview window.

i am haveing the same problem.....except mine is not on 2 pass VBR, im using CBr, and it does the exact same thing.....can someone help me!
