I have noticed that many video processing filters (e.g., Telecide) are released as both an AVISynth plugin and a VDub filter. And, of course, basic functions like cropping can be done in either AVISynth or VDub.

If I am doing encoding with TMPGEnc 2.59.47.155, and if I am doing processing that could be done with either AVISynth or VDub, which should I choose? Can anyone tell me when I should choose one over the other?

  2. Both systems have pluses, but given your original question all things being equal AVISynth is faster and eliminates the need for an intermediate processed avi file.

Thekey advantages to VDub are it's ease of use and that you can see your end results side by side with the original. But you can still use VDub to see your filtered results. Just load the avisynth .avs file in to VDub.

Do be aware that a good combo noise removal filter is going to take some time regardless of which program you use.
