  1. Hi, i am making UK Pal CVDs with CCE 2.50 and DVD2SVCD. I find the quality very good but wish to sharpen the edges during encoding. Is this possible with DVD2SVCD & CCE??

Also, for compatability, is it possible to limit the GOP structure to 15?

I am using the following info about CVD:

    Cheers

  3. ok, cheers bj_m

but how do i limit the gop structure to 15? i have gone into the advanced encoder setting in DVD2SVCD but i can only alter the gop sequence: m=3 n/m = 5

is it one of these settings that i need to change? is sum kind of multiplier involved? Perhaps 3* 5 = 15 and so it is on 15 by default? that is only a guess btw! cheers man!

modify the avs script in DVD2SVCD and add sharpen(.3) to it.

Don't go too high with the sharpen.

If you count the frames, it'll be 15 between I frames with a m=3 and n/m=5. M is the distance between P frames (BBP = 3, BP=2). N/M is total number of frames between I frames divided by M, or P frame distance (3) divided by total (15) 3/15=5.

disturbed1 id right about sharpen , i was thinking only of CCE , and didnt notice you were using dvd2svcd where you can add anything you want to the script ..

though normally i would not suggest adding a sharpen filter to a dvd backup, though a unsharpen mask (which sharpens edges) or a small amount of sharpen is a good thing on tape to dvd (after a noise reduction filter)
