    just ripped an 16x9 enhanced disc and encoded to mpeg with mpack. however, the framing is phucked since the black bars are too thin.

    The actual movie needs to be squashed vertically to look OK - what to do?

    if you got progressive shit (24fps) resize with virtualdub and frameserve to mpack. if its interlaces use TMPGEnc and set every possible option to interlaced. then use 16X9 source aspect ratio and use video arrange mode "Full Screen (keep aspect ratio). then choose your output format in the video tag and press start.
