  1. Howdy y'all,

Quick question: I just bought my first DVD burner last week, and have done several successful tests w/ my Liteon 401s. I've been using Instant Copy to make backups so far, but I've got a question: what is the minimum image size that you can burn onto a DVDR? The reason I ask this is that, for some reason, I thought it was 4.37, so I've been my images around 4.35 or 4.36. I just read, though, that you can't burn greater than 4.32.

This is weird b/c all of my images have burned fine (I burn the images using DVD Decrypter). So, which is it? What is the max image size? If it's 4.32 gigs, then why can I burn the images and watch the DVDs? Just curious.

    Thanks for any help.

As far as i can remember -R is 4.38Gb
    and +R is 4.37Gb

Hope that this is what you were after.

  3. Thanks. That's what I thought the max was, and I am using +Rs, but I kept reading on how-to guides on the net that 4.32 was the max, and even the Pinnacle Instant Copy program says 4.32 is the max, but I just ignored that. Weird. Oh well, as long as it plays just fine.

for compatibility isues, you need at least 1gb

for the maximum, I have no problem burning 4.36gb.. the real limit is 4.375gb

It is always best to keep it a little bit below this mark when encoding just to make sure that you dont go over, sometimes when encoding with DVD Shrink you might find that the output files are slightly bigger than you expected. Saying the max is 4.32 might be a way to stop this from happening.

maybe...maybe not, as you say though as long as it works and you are happy it doesnt really matter.
