Can someone recomind a good router that's not to expensive (i can't go over 100 really, i'd like to keep it round 50-80)

    I need:

Brodband connection sharing, VPN, file and print sharing.

    I want:

A USB port so i can run my usb printer right off the router
A Firewall that either auto-detects what ports an application needs and allows them to open, or easily allows for opening of ports and port ranges.
Wireless connectivity (not needed but a plus)

Well, if it wasn't for the USB print server, I would say look at the linksys products first. Then D-link products. If you ditch the wireless and printer the Linksys 4 port router is rock solid and around/under $50. You could then add a print server box, and then wireless access point later. Somebody had a sale on the Linksys wireless kit for notebooks. I think it was around $99.00 after rebates.

  3. Dlink is great, free 24/7 support if you happen to need it. Which I ended up needing, and on a Sunday I was able to get a person and help in less than 10 minutes. I love those guys.

  4. i've got a linksys befsr41 router here that has been going strong for over a year now.. the only problem i've had with it is that i cant transfer files through aim.. but aim file transfer works through trillian.. must be something weird with aim.. aside from that the router is a champ.. it just sits there doing its job & collecting dust from no one paying attention to it.. which is exactly what it should be doing.. it cost me $99 + tax at office depot.. last time i saw one in a the newspaper circular it was $79.. it may be cheaper now.

    I forgot to mention

I'm asking this because I had a DI-604 and it was a piece of shit. Terrible firewall, it took forever to open ports.

It also would only run 100 Meg Ethernet w/ certain modems. I couldn't use 100 on a 50 foot cable, Cat 6 gigabyte ethernet grade.

Do any routers have USB print server?

I don't know about the USB on a router, but I think you might be able to get a cheap ethernet print server that has it. I was in Walmart today and noticed that they have a Linksys 4 port plus wireless router for $89.99 regular price. It will only do 11 Mbps wireless, but it is a good start. Also several other brands of routers at Walmart, some very cheap.
