  1. Bought this to burn my re-encoded movies from DVD2ONE onto DVD-r.

I was using Nero (latest version), but found certain DVD players didn't want to play them e.g Toshiba 520 & Panasonix XV10, but they have worked on my Sony 905 (top range) and other cheaper brand players.

I'm ruling out (for now) the fact it could be the brand of DVD-r I am using.

So back to Ulead's product, when I select the video files and exclude any menu's creation Ulead says I need 5.0GB of disk space and I did not have enough disk space free!!!
and yet Nero seems happy to burn the very same files. The movie folder created by DVD2ONE is 4.36GB, which is fine, but for some reason Ulead adds everything up to 5GB instead of about 4.5gb

  2. Make sure you tell MF2 to not re-encode DVD compliant files. Under project settings, MPEG Settings.

  3. Bowlpacker, you packed a great tip there !!!

That seems to have done it with the size. I'll be 'burning' tonight and passing it on to check it out.

    Cheers again.

  4. Oops,
When the box next to the setting "Do not cnvert MPEG compliant files" is ticked - the size required is 5GB, when unticked it requires 4.7GB.

Which sounds like it's the wrong way round !? Anyway, on either case the amount of disk space reported on a blank disk is 4.4GB - surely that's wrong ?. Anyway I accepted the warning that there was still not enough room to burn the movie at 4.7GB.

After a while of processing the movie, it went onto the audio and came up with an error - that the audio file was not MPEG compliant !!

Why is this so difficult ????????????????????? For such a simple procedure I am attempting.

4.38GB is the max size on DVD-/+R. See "What is a DVD-5" here https://www.videohelp.com/dvd

I have found that DMF-2 reports compliant MPEG2 files the same size as windows explorer.

  6. Can't help you too much on audio, I've used MPEG-1 Layer II audio files (.MP2) and uncompressed PCM (.WAV) before and that's it.

On the check box - I've noticed it act flaky before. Sometimes I've had to go in there and uncheck it, hit ok, go back in and check it, hit ok, before it "takes". I think it's a software quirk, not sure if that's what's happening with you or not.

I do know that in my experience (I tried. too) if it gives the warning the files won't fit, they won't fit.

  7. The program pretty much stinks outside of burning. At 45 bucks for choppy, pixelated out of sync movies it was a real bargain lol.

    Hello

When I first started using DVD2ONE (always in FULL-DISK back-up mode) I was using NERO EXPRESS to burn my DVD-R but found that some players would play the DVD-R and some would not.

Then I followed the guide on the doom9 website which instructs you to use a FREE program called ImgTools (classic version) to create an IMAGE file from the VIDEO_TS folder of files created by DVD2ONE. You then burn the IMAGE file to a DVD-R using DVD Decrypter (another FREE program).

Using this method I am now able to play back the DVD-R discs on a couple of DVD players that would not otherwise work using NERO.

    *** EDIT ***
It is not a good idea to fill a DVD-R to 100% of capacity. When I use DVD2ONE I specify a size of 4350MB which fills the disc to about 97% or so (by my math). I say this because some people have experienced problems when filling their DVD-R disc to the max. However I should point out that it appears to be a problem with only SOME media ... the cheaper the more likely the problem.
