Good news indeed. However, after reading up on the package, it comes across to me as decidedly underwhelming. After all this time, each movie should've received the two-disc treatment at a minimum, rather than one per disc plus a fourth for extras. No Dolby DTS, either.
And "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark"? Please, Mr. Spielberg, for the love of God, cure yourself of this Lucas-itis as quickly as you can! Wasn't your desecration of "E.T." bad enough? -
Lucas sucks after all this time there coming out they should have been out a long time. Well im glad there coming out but I hate Lucas

I'm just happy they are coming out. As long as they have a nice transfer and a good 5.1 mix that is.
Now for Star Wars. -
What I want to know is why are they calling it "Indiana Jones: The Complete DVD Movie Collection"? What about Indiana Jones 4? And will they sell that one separately, or will I have to buy another set with all four of them in it...

I have the trilogy on VHS (wide-screen) as well, but the VHS tapes don't look that great on my HDTV - they look OK, but not as good as most DVD's. I imagine/hope the DVD's will look much better than the VHS tapes

I have them on laserdisc I am going to wait for the fourth one to come out and then the subsequent boxset, so I will probably have them on dvd around 2006 !!!

Entire trilogy with DD5.1 sound and pretty good video transfer is already available for long time in Asia (and it is original all-regions coded studio release, not a bootleg). At first I thought it is LD transferred to DVD, but I got one of LDs and after I compared them I admit it is different (and better).
Unless youre francophone from canadian quebec this asian release has already what you need, and since US release won't have much of extras either - whats the rant about... I dont care about possible Spielberg's commentaries, he aint worth extra $30 a piece :P -

They are LD transfers (there are approx 6 versions of Raiders of the Lost Ark on LD so even though it may not look like yours it does come from LD) and although the quality (in my opinion) is better than the VHS versions they still would not match that of a professionally restored and mastered DVD. Add to that the THX sound that will be on the official releases.
Also, why pay around US$45 for the bootlegs (with no extras, non-restored picture, no THX sound and sub standard cover/disc art) when the price of the official DVD's are going to be priced at around US$49.95.
